                                              Lt Colonel Paul J. Murphy


Lt Colonel Paul J. Murphy is Chairman, Department of Aerospace Science, Crest High School, Shelby, North
Carolina. As the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, he is responsible for educating and training high school
cadets in citizenship, promoting community service, instilling responsibility, character, and self-discipline, and
providing instruction in air and space fundamentals. The AFJROTC program is grounded in the Air Force core
values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do. The curriculum emphasizes the Air Force
heritage and traditions, the development of flight, apllied flight sciences, military aerospace policies, and space
exploration.

Lt Colonel Murphy was born in Burgaw, North Carolina and entered the Air Force in 1979 through the Air Force
ROTC program at Fayetteville State University. He worked in management engineering at both Robins Air Force
Base, Georgia, and Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. He served as an Air battle Manager at March Air Force Base,
California, and Osan Air base, South Korea. While at the Pentegon, he was a wartime manpower planner and
organizational analyst. Lt Col Murphy aslo served as Chief of Manpower Requirements Division for the U.S. Forces
in Europe. He was a two-time commander at the detachment level. Prior to retiring and assuming his current
position, he was the Professor of Aerospace Studuies at Fayetteville State University. He deployed to Riyadh,
Saudia Arabia as contingency manpower planner for the Desert Storm coalition air campaign in 1991.
