Learning history does not have to be boring - it can actually be fun...
One of the most common responses I get from students when I ask them if they like history is, "no, it's boring." There's no pause, no serious contemplation, just a simple, "no, it's boring."
"Why do you think it's boring?" I ask.
"Because it's just names and dates," is the most common reply.
History is, in fact, names and dates. But it's also a whole lot more. As a teacher, I try to add as much spice to the dish that I possibly can. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Regardless, one of the most gratifying things I get out of teaching is when I see students learning when they don't realize it.
