Education
I attended Appalachian State University on the Teaching Fellows Scholarship and received a B. S. degree in Elementary Education. I went to graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on the Principal Fellows Scholarship and obtained a Master of School Administration degree.

Current Job
I am the principal of Casar Elementary. My main responsibilities are the supervision of our total school program and working with our teachers, parents, and students to maximize student learning. I have the pleasure of getting to work with many different groups of people: our students, teachers, teacher assistants, parents, custodians, cafeteria workers, and bus drivers.

Other Jobs
I did my student teaching in second grade. After student teaching ended, I worked as a fifth grade teacher in Gaston County. Later, I taught at Graham Elementary in Shelby as a fourth grade teacher for a few years. Then I taught third grade. I worked as an assistant principal at Cherryville Elementary for one year and at Boiling Springs Elementary for five years.

Passions
I live in Shelby with my wife, our three cats (Marta, Grace, and Celia), and our two dogs (Allison and Amadeus). The 2008-2009 school year will be my first year at Casar Elementary School. I am excited to see what wonderful things this year will bring.

I Iove to spend time with my wife. We spend a lot of time playing with our dogs and cats or working in our yard. We enjoy traveling and spending time with our family and friends.

I also enjoy playing chess, golfing, storytelling, singing in the choir at church, and reading, reading, reading. My favorite kinds of books to read are fantasies and biographies. I love to learn something new and am currently teaching myself  Italian.

Must Reads
I enjoy the folktales found in The Jack Tales and The Grandfather Tales. Any Calvin and Hobbes book is great for a few laughs. Finally, you can't go wrong with the classics.
