Classroom Rules:
We follow the PBS Matrix in the classroom. You can find a copy in your
child's planner or on the Marion web site.
Consequences:
We move paw prints in the classroom to help your child visually keep up
with their behavior. When your child breaks a rule the paw print is moved
to the next step. Each day I record your child's behavior in their
planner for you to review and discuss with your child. If there is
nothing or if your child has drawn a smiley face, that means they were
either on PAWS or Verbal Warning and had a good day. I need you to sign
or initial each night to say that you have seen the behavior for the day (even Friday
night). I need you to sign or initial the planner even if it is blank so
that I know you have seen their excellent behavior for the day.
If they have recieved any paw change, beyond Verbal Warning, I will indicate that in
the planner along with the matrix offense and a brief description. Please ask your child
why their paw was moved and feel free to call me if you have any questions
(704-813-3996). Below are the consequences for each offense and paw move.
P.A.W.S. (no move)-Your child has has a great day.
Verbal Warning-Your child has had a verbal warning and you may or may not
know this.
1st Intervention-Seat change or time-out and reteach of behavior.
2nd Intervention-Silent lunch (the next day if the move to 2nd intervention happens
after lunch) and an MIR is written.
Red Flag Offense-Office Visit
Each time your child moves to 1st intervention or lower it is written in
a red PAWS folder. After your child has 3 moves to 1st intervention or
lower a MIR is written. When 3 MIR's are written
they have an office visit to discuss behavior.
Each month your child's "slate" is wiped clean for behavior and
they start over with MIR's and office consequences.
