Moving Research into Classrooms: Practice Guides on Adolescent Literacy
We invite you to register for the 2009 University of Oregon, Center on Teaching and Learning Fall Conference Moving Research into Classrooms: Practice Guides on Adolescent Literacy, ELL Strategies, K-8 Mathematics, and RTI for K-3 Reading. The conference will take place October 27-28, 2009, at The Governor Hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon.
This highly-anticipated conference will feature both nationally prominent researchers--Drs. Russell Gersten, David Chard, Michael Kamil, Timothy Shanahan, Joe Dimino, Sylvia Linan-Thompson and Scott Baker--as well as highly successful consultants and practitioners including Dr. Kevin Feldman and Dr. Maria Elena Arguelles. The two-day conference is built around four separate strands, each focusing on one of the topic-specific Practice Guides that the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences (IES) has issued.
Our conference website provides detailed information on each of the four strands, conference speakers and registration information. The conference offers discounts for multiple registrants from the same school in order to encourage team attendance and team planning. In addition, a series of conference follow-up activities will be available throughout the year at no additional charge, a unique feature which further adds to the value of the conference. Our conference website can be found at:
Sign up as early as possible to assure registration in your strand of choice and encourage a team of colleagues to sign up with you. You will receive recommendations based on the best research available today on a topic that is a priority for you and your school or district. We hope to see you in Portland on October 27-28, 2009.
