What is Title I?

The Title I Program is part of the Elementary and Secondary School Act.  It is the largest federal aid program for our nation’s schools.  Title I schools work to identify students most in need of education help.  These are students who are the furthest away from meeting the state’s standards.  Students do not have to be from low-income to be helped.

The goals of Title I are to provide a high quality education for every child, and offer extra academic help for those who need it most.  It also strives to increase parental involvement.  Title I schools work to set goals for academic improvement, measure student progress using standards set in the state’s Title I plan, and develop programs that add to regular classroom instruction.  The Title I Program offers smaller classes, additional highly qualified teachers and assistants, additional training for school staff, extra time for instruction, funding for additional instructional programs, variety of teaching methods and materials, and instruction and involvement for parents.

Title I Programs strive to see that NO CHILD IS LEFT BEHIND!
