Driver Education

Driver Education classes are typically offered three to four times throughout the year.  Each student is required to complete 30 hours of classroom instruction  before completing 6 hours of driving instruction.  In order to enroll in a class, the student must be 14 1/2 years of age by the first day of class.  During the school year, the classes are offered after school.  They run from 3:00 to 6:00 for a period of two weeks. The summer class may be in the morning or early afternoon.  Once the student has completed the classroom portion they will be scheduled to drive, beginning with the oldest students working down to the youngest.  The instructors at Burns High are Brad Taylor, Bruce Martin and Art Smith.  Mr. Smith and Mr. Martin drive after school throughout the school year while Mr. Taylor drives before, during, and after school.  Driving during the school day is handled through coordination with Health and PE classes.
