All About Me
I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again. ~ William Penn

GREETINGS!
This is my second year as an administrator at Township Three Elementary School. I am excited about serving the children, parents, and teachers of this great school! I have served Cleveland County Schools for the past sixteen years as a Language Arts teacher at Crest Middle School before becoming Assistant Principal here.
I have worn many hats in education. Before seeking certification in public education, I spent many years in a daycare program for pre-schoolers in Charlotte. I worked mostly with three year-old pre-schoolers for almost nine years. After moving to Shelby, I desired to obtain a North Carolina teaching license. While attending school part-time, I briefly worked as a part-time Teacher Assistant in the Reading Lab at Jefferson Elementary School. I received an Associate in Arts in Pre-Education from Cleveland Community College and then a Bachelor of Science from Gardner Webb University. More recently, I obtained a Master of Arts in School Administration also from Gardner Webb University.
To date, I have received certification in Elementary Education (grades K-6), Middle School Language Arts (grades 6 - 9), Middle School Math (grades 6 - 9), and Academically Gifted (grades K - 12). In November of 1999, I received my National Board Certification in Early Adolscence / English Language Arts.
I am a classroom teacher at heart. Over the years, my students have certainly motivated me to be the best that I can be. Among the most special honors during my career have been being selected by former students in 2000 and again in 2005 as Cleveland County Star Teacher and by my peers as the 2007 Crest Middle School Teacher of the Year. The most humbling and memorable experience was being awared a Purple Heart and American Flag by a former student who served this country as a Marine in Iraq and who remembered my constant message of "accomplishing goals" and "never giving up." What personal inspiration that provides each time I remember that experience!
My mission has been and continues to be the deep desire "to make a difference!" It is exciting to have that opportunity each and every day!
